Thorncrown Chapel is forty-eight feet high and contains 425 windows. This gorgeous church was the brainchild of Jim Reed, a retired school teacher, who, in 1978, approached a well-known architect by the name of E. Fay Jones.

Two years later, Thorncrown Chapel opened its doors. Since that time, more than five million visitors have graced this spectacular place of worship with their presence. A very popular locale for weddings, Thorncrown Chapel has been the recipient of many architectural awards, including the American Institute of Architecture's Design of the Year Award (1981). Open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thorncrown Chapel is located just three miles outside of Eureka Springs, Arkansas. There is no fee to visit the chapel. However, donations are greatly appreciated. Tours are available and feature an in-depth history of Thorncrown along with a song by a musician associated with the chapel.
